Do you have a 2020 Disney World trip planned or are you still just dreaming? Many factors contribute to deciding the best time for your family to head to Disney World, including the cost, crowds, and weather! The most important factor, though, is when it works for you... just remember: Always pack your patience!
1. Crowds
Most of January
January is typically known as a low crowd month. However weekends to avoid include Marathon weekend and the weekend prior to Martin Luther King Day and Pro Bowl weekend.
Most of February
February will see a rise of crowds starting Valentine’s Day through President’s Day. However prior to this, crowds are low, prior to the Princess Half Marathon (2/20-2/23).
Early May
Early May brings light crowds as schools are in session. Crowds increase as schools start to release for summer and Memorial Day weekend approaches.
Late August
Crowds lighten up second half of August, when schools start back in session. There are also no major events going on this month that would effect crowds. However, it will be HOT! HOT! HOT! and in Florida, hot often equals afternoon rain showers, so pack your poncho and your water bottle!
Most of September – October
Fall is a wonderful time to visit, most of September brings light crowds after Labor Day weekend as most schools have restarted. Weekends will draw more crowds for the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. Then October is light crowds, with the exception of Columbus Day Weekend.
Mid-November
After the Wine & Dine Race Weekend and prior to the week of Thanksgiving, is a great low crowd time to visit.
Not Visiting During One Of These Times?
However, do not be discouraged if you are not going during one of these times. Any time at Disney World can be magical, even during high crowd times.
2. Weather
The most pleasant weather in Florida is seen late March through early June. June through September brings the highest monthly rainfall totals and hurricane season begins in late August.
3. Cost
Ticket prices vary day to day for one day tickets. However ticket prices do go down the longer you stay! This year, the lowest one day ticket prices are in February, May, August, and September.
My Preference
My personal personal pick for 2020 is late April to early May! The weather is nice, crowds are lower and it contains some of the cheapest 1-Day park ticket prices.
